Lost Ruins of Chaos Rising

Obsidian glanced back at the others, before walking up in front of Jest. "Cosmic, If you would, can you walk in front so we can see the path?" Obsidian called, glancing back at the vulpine creature. Cosmic growled, but walked up next to Obsidian, the light from his rings illuminating the area greatly. The pathway went on, and glancing behind, the left path lead to a dead end. Cheetah raced up next to Cosmic, her wings slightly open. Obsidian fell back in step with Jest as they walked on. "You know that the way down to the Last Citadel is a giant pitfall right?" He said, making sure that Jest knew that they're have to go for a jump.

Vienna froze in response to Obsidians words. 'A pitfall?' She thought worriedly, her scales daring to pale even more. 'What sort of pitfall? How deep?' Vienna shivered, deciding she wouldn't get any answers talking to herself. A bit hesitantly walking up to Obsidian she asked, "What do you mean, exactly, by 'pitfall'?" Her paled scales rather clearly displayed her worry.

"Of course" Jest replied, eye glancing to and fro as if expecting something to attack " Just because i can't handle a beating does not mean i am unable to fall."

'dammit, i shouldn't of said that' Jest thought. he gave a side glance to his companion, hoping he wouldn't think too much of what he just unveiled. Jests gaze was cold, purple eye unfaltering as he studied the path in front. While he would use any information to get what he wanted, that did not mean Obsidian would use the same tactics.

Obsidian grinned at Vienna. "Oh, a few stories." He said tauntingly., looking back to Jest. "Oh really Jest?" Obsidian said, giving Jest a mischievous look. "We'll just see." Obsidian added, walking back up in step with where Cosmic and Cheetah were. Cheetah glared at Obsidian, but continued walking. Starshooter and Gravity stayed behind, chatting about physics and magic.

Vienna somehow managed to pale a bit more, if that was even possible. Her scales bore an almost white shade of their original green. She decided she'd rather not ask about the stories in particular, lest Obsidian manage to scare her more than he already had. 'Maybe it's a short drop...' Vienna told herself in a small attempt to reassure her nerves. It didn't work.

"tch"

Jest shoved his hands in his pockets, annoyed Obsidian had the nerve to tease back. he quickened his stride as they neared a bend in the path, tail blade scraped the ground and sent vibrations through the air, otherwise silent except for the dim metallic clatter. Jest was so bored. he looked over at Vienna, who had turned remarkably pale. a look of fear was playing on her features. he fell back in step with her as he spoke.
"Theres a pile at the bottom of the drop. you won't be harmed." Jest reassured, placing a hand on her shoulder. he was unsure if his acts would do their part and comfort her, but it would not hurt to try.

"Unless she dies of fright from falling three stories." Obsidian called, trying to make Jest go on edge. The annoying cyborg had it coming, and hey, why not terrify someone else while he's at it?

Vienna jumped when Jest placed a hand on her shoulder, looking up at him. "And that's supposed to make me feel better?" She replied grimly, moving away a bit and brushing his hand off. She stiffened at Obsidians comment, her scales threatening to turn entirely white. Vienna then muttered something to herself about scale pigmentation.

Jest shrugged, irked at his latest treatment. is everyone in a bad mood or something?
"It means what it means." He muttered incoherently to himself, wondering why Vienna seemed to dislike him. i'm not creepy, right? geez, i just wanted to set her at ease. Obsidian should keep his words to himself, i am trying to gain myself allies here.

((Oh god Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! My ribs! They huuuuuuuurt!))

Obsidian grinned, his latest attempt to piss of the cyborg worked. Hallelujah. His whiskers twitched as vibrations came closer. They were nearing one of the traps. "Beware. There's a trap somewhe-" A click sounded in the hall. "Crap."

Jests step faltered as the click rang out, alerting him to the activated trap. dammit! who stepped on the wire? He slid to the side as a beam shot at him and used his blade to deflect another. "The panel! get to the front panel and deactivate it"
Jest shouted as the group dodged and panicked.

Vienna froze as a loud click sounded off in the hall. Traps? She didn't remember anything about traps. However, her questions were quickly answered when bright red beams began firing throughout the hallway. In a flurry of panic, fear, and instinct, Vienna began moving to avoid as many beams as possible. She was successful, at least for the first few shots...

'DAMMIT!' Obsidian thought, ducking as the first beam came at him. "This is going to be fun." He said sarcastically, deflecting another beam with his tail blade. His eyes locked on the panel, and he dashed towards it, and just as he started running a beam came and shot right where he was running. Acting on instinct, Obsidian jumped, clearing the beam and landing, albeit with a stumble due to his shoulder. Obsidian hadn't even noticed that the lock on system was now firing all the lasers at him. Until more than necessary started coming his way. Ina mad dash that consisted of jumps, skids and slides, Obsidian finally managed to get to the panel, right as Gravity crushed it with a rock. The lasers stopped at once and Obsidian growled in annoyance. "Next time can you do that BEFORE we nearly die?" He growled, the fur on his back bristling in annoyance.

Vienna breathed a short sigh of relief as the lasers were deactivated. "Don't do that again..." She mumbled to no one in particular. She could only hope that the other traps would be avoided just as well. 'Don't jinx it...' She thought to herself. 'The last thing you want to do is jinx it.'

Jest laughed, an amused smile playing on his lips. "Too slow to be the hero, Mimic. Try again later "
he strode towards the panel and removed the rock, revealing broken circuits and wires that had been crushed under the rocks blow. poor machine, he thought as he threw the rock over his shoulder and got to work. Jest fiddled around, replacing and connecting bits of wire and metal, using a retractible hooked claw on his mechanical hand to deal with the small things.
after a few minutes he stood back, admiring his work. it was still damaged and bent, but would work.
"everyone, get going. i have reset the lasers tracking device. it should hold up any followers long enough for us to be on our way"

"Idiot." Obsidian muttered, his eyes scanning the area for the hole in the wall that signified the entrance to the pitfall. Thanks to Cosmic's light, he could see it easily. He walked up to the hole, peering down. "So, who want's to go first?" He said, waiting for the others.

Jest followed after Obsidian and stared down into the blackness behind the hole. "Lets pick a volunteer, shall we?" He murmured, stepping back and studying the group gathered for a suitable candidate. although he had previously stated there was no harm in the fall, it was not certain the ash pile continued to lay at the bottom. best send a sacrifice.

Cheetah face palmed. "Hellooooo? Wings? Anybody?" She said sarcastically, rolling her eyes. She walked up to the hole and peered down, shrugging. "I suggest you step back." Obsidian backed up so as not to get a faceful of wing. Cheetah opened her white feathered wings, jumping down the hole. "Whoo hoo!" She said with glee, her wings catching the air and lifting her back into the air. "I'll cleck for anything down the bottom." She said, folding her wings and diving down, opening her wings and pulling up before she hit the ground. "It's all good! There's a massive pile of ash down here! It's soft as!" She called, and with that, Obsidian grinned. Coming up behind Jest, he pushed the cyborg into the hole with his tail, "Ladies first." He said, jumping down after him. Gravity and Cosmic jumped down after. Starshooter stayed behind with Vienna.

All anger he might of had towards Obsidian vanished as Jest tumbled down through the darkness, wind tore at him and it felt as if he was flying. It ended all too suddenly as they landed in the pile of ash. Jest broke to the surface as he gasped for air, a wide smile on his face, and laughter in his eye. it almost made up for Obsidians rudness. almost.

as said creature removed himself from the ash pile Jest tumbled down to greet him, thudding him on the shoulder as he spoke. "That was fun. but i should not have to repeat myself about respecting those who carry out your schemes" A strange smile graced his face as he spoke, anger once again bubbling to the surface.

"Eh. The time called for something funny." Obsidian said, shaking the ash off his fur. Obsidian's ears perked. "Oh goody, so nice to see you again Time Spirit." Obsidian said sarcastically, sighing as his hunch was right. The Time Spirit appeared in front of them, just at the entrance to the Last Citadel. ~You never seem to miss when I'm about to appear.~ The silver dragon said, amusement in her voice.

Vienna peeked down the pitfall worriedly, her stomach uncomfortably churning. She still wasn't sure it was safe. The whole thing just made her extremely nervous. Vienna turned toward Starshooter. "Are you sure it's safe?" She asked.

"Don't worry, I can levitate us down. My magic never falters." Starshooter said, levitating himself over the hole just to prove a point.

Vienna still seemed rather hesitant. 'So instead of falling quickly and getting over with it and a few seconds, I get to fall SLOWLY and have the seconds lengthen themselves considerably.' Vienna thought, sighing weakly. 'Great.' She inched toward the edge of the hole, daring a glance down. It was a long enough drop to make her stumble back a couple steps. "Maybe I could just stay here..." she mumbled, knowing quite well that that was entirely out of the question.

"So, would you like me to levitate you down, or are you going to jump?" Startshooter said, floating back over to Vienna.

"Uhhh..." Vienna said indecisively. She didn't want to jump down, but she didn't want to levitate down either. In fact, she didn't want to go down at all. "Stupid.." Vienna mumbled before running and taking a bold leap off the edge. She shut her eyes as she fell, not wanting to see the ground that she plummeted toward. However, despite her fears, she landed safely in the large pile of ashes, popping out moments later. The look on her face suggested that she was not going to do that again anytime soon.
